Inspiration for the design:

Johnny Carrington is John Larvin's boxing name, he was a well known Nottingham boxer around 1946 to 1954.
Nottingham's long history of boxing goes back to the bare-knuckle days of Bendigo and Ben Caunt.
And down the years famous names like Wally Swift, Johnny Pritchett, David Needham, the Laing Brothers and, today, Carl Froch have maintained a proud tradition.
But there were dozens more who fought professionally, some in fairground boxing booths. You may recall Young Chen, Frankie Bonser, Tishy Marsden, Johnny Carrington, George Wheatcroft, Liscomb Moreland, Cyril Johnson, George Dickens, Jack Cooling, Billy Strange, Ginger McWard, Banky Cadman, Charlie Keeling, Dick Johnson, Frankie Parkes, Tommy Kirk, Johnny Bartles and Arthur Adkins.
And, under the influence of promoters like Reg King, Nottingham also attracted some of the finest boxers of their day to the city, including Henry Cooper and Joe Erskine.

Inspiration for the design:

The design for the Clifton village war memorial was created by using three photos, that was taken during world war one, all the pictures are silhouettes of British soldier.
Generally there are 8 soldiers per section so I decided to incorporate it in my design also by doing that I have tried to create a realistic scenario and to try recreate the realities of war.
